Is there a pre-molded flashing or concrete peices that I can use in making a french drain around my house?
I am building an addition onto my home and the new addition sits below ground level. Instead of tearing it down since I have thousands of dollars tied up in it, I was thinking about a french drain all around the house. I was wondering if they made a slanted piece of material that I could use to go up against the house, then the water could not go under the house but stay in the drain.
Thick black plastic will do this. Contour the land around the house, lay the plastic, then mulch over it. If you’re afraid it’ll move, literally nail it down with the biggest nails (10d should work). Angle the land directly into the drain. You can even lay the plastic into the drain cavity, and cover with drainage rock.
